Sheets of Linen

LYRICS and MUSIC BY BRADLEY SCOTT MALONE ©2021 BMI LICENSE #66424569

When I’m gone she’ll be dryin’ sheets of linen

on a wire neath a paint by numbers sky

And the wind will blow slowly down the canyon

n’ blend her dress in the morning light

And I’ve wasted all the time a man can borrow

n’ of all the things been taken from me

I went to town to join the orphan choir

cause what I miss the most is   my sanity

Chorus

And he gave up an angel when you were born

he’s still holdin’ the wings that you’d worn

Nobody told him   you were gone

n the sound of the thunder

the sound of the thunder

The sound of the thunder

is just a jealous God

So I wrote a little story on a napkin

in broken lines of purple poetry

Cause they’re moving furniture round up in heaven

if you’ll listen    carefully

Chorus

So when I’m gone she’ll be dryin’ sheets of linen

on a wire neath an alabaster sky

and I’ll float around like her small town companion

n kiss her ear in the morning light

Shades Of Indigo

I HOPE YOU DON’T MIND MY CIGARETTE
THE ONLY THING THEY AIN’T DENIED ME YET
YEAH THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE   I GET IT ALL THE TIME
NOBODY HIRES A MAN WITH A TROUBLED MIND

NOW THE COLOR OF MY BACKPACK IS FROM THE SUN
BROUGHT IT FROM AFGHANISTAN TO REMEMBER SOMEONE
BACK TO AN EMPTY HOUSE TRAILER NO TICKER TAPE PARADE
JUST THIS LETTER AND THESE PILLS FROM THE V-A

CHORUS
BUT SOMETIMES LATE AT NIGHT WHEN I LOOK OUT ON YOUR TOWN
HEADLIGHTS LIKE ANGELS       TETHERED TO THE GROUND
AND THESE PEOPLE THEY FOLLOW ME
WHEREVER I MAY GO
INVISIBLE LIKE A SHADE OF INDIGO

AND WHEN I HAD NOWHERE ELSE TO BE
ALL DAY TO GET THERE AND STILL THERE WAS JUST ME
I BURNT THAT HOUSETRAILER DOWN
I BURNT IT TO THE GROUND
SEE THESE PEOPLE IN THE WALLS THEY TORTURE ME

Freckles

WORDS AND LYRICS BY BRADLEY S MALONE ©2017 BMI LICENSING#28032374

Well I remember the sound
of that UHAUL leavin' town
and your face in the glass in the back of a Chevrolet

and I followed as far as I could
but my pedals did no good
and the Pete Rose card in the spokes just tore away

PRECHORUS
But what the river didn’t find
was that the sunshine didn't mind
to shine on your face but leave me without a trace

CHORUS
If bikes could fly
Just like that movie we saw that summertime
You know little boys fall in love all the time
And I loved those freckles you tried to hide

Well try as I might
The operator couldn’t find
Your name in a city in a land so far away

So if you can hear my voice
Understand I had no choice
The red dust clay it swallowed the light of day
